Relief for local family who are now permanent residents

We love good news stories here at TranQuill Legal and this is certainly one of them. A family from Queanbeyan have lots to thank
Immigration Minister David Coleman for as they are now permanent residents of Australia.

The Wangchuk family’s visa had expired in April after an application for permanent residency was rejected by the AAT (Administrative Appeals Tribunal) . as their teenage son, Kinley, is deaf and it was felt he would be a burden on health resources. It was looking increasingly likely they would be deported back to Bhutan in the very near future until a petition, signed by over 51,000 people, was put to the Immigration Minister.

Thankfully on Friday of last week their permanent residency was granted due to David Coleman’s intervention and overturning of the tribunal’s decision.
