This is quite a tough subject to broach, but it seems it is very real. Young people are so keen to stay in Australia that they are willing to be exploited in ways that are just not reasonable. And it seems it is not hyperbole.
Next month the working holiday visa program is due to be extended, allowing backpackers to stay in Australia for a third year but is this just leading to exploitation by the people who are meant to be employing these vulnerable young people? Does there need to be increased regulations to ensure the safety of workers doing their ‘farm time’?
