About TranQuill Legal

Clear Legal Guidance for Complex Matters

TranQuill Legal is a specialist law firm based in the heart of Canberra, ACT — close to ANU, the Civic Centre, and key government agencies. We work with clients across Australia and internationally, providing immigration law advice, visa support, and notarial services for use both in Australia and abroad.

Whether you’re applying for a visa, facing a refusal, planning to sponsor a family member, or needing to certify overseas documents — we’re here to offer trusted legal advice that helps you move forward with clarity and confidence.

What We Do

We focus on two key areas of practice:

Immigration Law

  • Visa applications (partner, skilled, family, visitor, student, and more)
  • Appeals and refusals (including AAT representation)
  • Citizenship and permanent residency
  • Complex matters involving health, character, or bridging visa issues
  • Business and employer-sponsored migration

Notarial Services

  • Certifying true copies of legal documents
  • Witnessing signatures on international forms and declarations
  • Preparing and notarising documents for overseas use
  • Assisting with DFAT Apostilles and legalisation for Hague/non-Hague countries

Our Approach

Legal issues can be overwhelming — especially when they affect your ability to live, work, or reunite with loved ones in Australia. We know how much is at stake, and we believe you deserve legal advice that’s:

  • Clear — so you can make informed decisions
  • Calm — because stressful situations need steady support
  • Ethical — we’ll always be honest with you about your options
  • Personalised — no cookie-cutter advice, ever

From straightforward cases to complex appeals and time-sensitive visa problems, we take a strategic, down-to-earth approach that respects both the law and the people we serve.

Meet Our Team

Owen Harris Tranquill Legal

Owen Harris | Director

Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law
Notary Public
Former MARN 0851294
Former Adjunct Professor

Owen’s the boss, not that you’d always know it from his wardrobe. But don’t let the polo-shirt and jeans fool you. With 25 years in IT, 18 as a solicitor, and 12 as a Notary Public, he’s the kind of quietly brilliant operator you definitely want in your corner.

He’s the Principal Solicitor and owner of the firm.

He’s been wrangling immigration law since 2007 and is the first and only Accredited Specialist in Immigration Law in the ACT. In 2021, he was appointed to the Migration Advice Industry Advisory Group, providing advice to the Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs.

He’s represented clients in just about every jurisdiction there is. Magistrates Criminal, Federal, Family, AAT, ACAT, even the High Court (yep, he’s lodged multiple special leave applications). He’s a strategist to the core, pragmatic, results-driven, and persistent in a way that makes bureaucracy nervous.

He used to be an adjunct professor of law at the University of Canberra (teaching ethics, no less), and he’s still heavily involved in the legal community through teaching and mentoring up-and-comers. He’s also got connections across the industry, built over decades of solving the unsolvable.

Outside the office, Owen is a family man with five kids and eight grandkids (always confusing them Tahlia/Tira what’s the difference). He’s partial to a glass/bottle of wine, a bad joke, and daydreams about starting a PhD purely for the flight upgrades. He speaks A2 French and beginner Khmer — mostly to impress waiters and customs officers.

He’s a longtime supporter of causes close to his heart, including the Cerebral Palsy Alliance,  Wayside Mission, Mitochondria Foundation, and Tara Winkler’s Cambodian Children’s Trust, and has clocked up some serious kilometres on his motorbike doing fundraisers for the Black Dog Ride, Wall to Wall, and the Salvos.

Owen doesn’t chase recognition. He just does the work and does it bloody well.

Bronwyn Huntley Tranquill Legal.jpg

Bronwyn Huntley | Registered Migration Agent

MARN: 1684691

Office Manager, Courier, Court Jester

Bronwyn is what happens when you combine 11 years of immigration law experience, a Bachelor of Business, a Grad Dip in Migration Law, two-thirds of a Master of Teaching, and absolutely zero chill.

She’s our resident Jill of all trades, running the show one minute, dashing to the post office the next, all while managing to crack a joke loud enough for the next suburb to hear (she’s not great at using her “indoor voice”).

Her office is a colourful explosion of Lego, toys, and sentimental bits and pieces, basically a cross between a migration law firm and a toy shop. She’s the first to offer help, the last to leave, and the only person we know who could probably manage a court filing, a client meltdown, and a courier run simultaneously.

Bronwyn bends over backwards for clients so much we’re mildly concerned about her spinal health. But she wouldn’t have it any other way. She genuinely cares, and it shows in every application, every email, every late-night spreadsheet.

In an ideal world, she’d own a Time-Turner so she could fit in more client calls, more running (yes, she runs every single day), and finally book that trip to Wrexham Racecourse. But until then, she’ll settle for a glass of wine (or two) and a good laugh at the end of the day.

Trust us, if you ever need someone in your corner, Bronwyn’s already there.

Krystal Curley Tranquill Legal.jpg

Krystal Curley | Administration Officer

Krystal has been the behind-the-scenes wizard now for 10 years, who makes sure the numbers add up, the receipts are tamed, and the boss doesn’t accidentally delete another spreadsheet. She’s our accounts guru and the person who mutters “I’ll fix it” more times than anyone should have to in a week.

She’s also the peacekeeper around here, the calm voice of reason when the wheels are threatening to fall off. Not that she’d ever admit to being the glue of the team.

Outside of work, Krystal lives in a never-ending almost renovated house, which she hopes and dreams it will be completed before she is 60. Let’s just say she’s earned the patience of a saint, or maybe just someone who’s vacuumed the house twice a day to cope.

Her two kids are now old enough to drive, which means the driveway is basically a revolving door, and no one’s ever quite sure who’s home at any given moment.

Prasanth VELICHAPATTE TranQuill Legal1

Prasanth Velichapatte | Process Manager

Prasanth is the newest member of the TranQuill team. He is our Process Manager and the one quietly making sure everything works. He’s been working in immigration since 2010 and brings over 15 years of global immigration and process management experience to the table.

He speaks Hindi, Malayalam, and beginner in Tamil.

Around here, he’s affectionately known as the “quiet achiever”, the type who’s solving complex problems while everyone else is still deciding what to order for lunch. But don’t let the quiet part fool you, he has a contagious laugh.

Outside the office, he’s a self-declared nature and animal lover with a deep appreciation for the world in its “raw format” (his words). His ideal weekend? Out in the wild, unwinding under trees, by water, or anywhere that doesn’t require a Wi-Fi signal.

He’s humble, clever, and endlessly kind
