The Australian Government has introduced temporary measures to assist people financially through the pandemic. The new COVID-19 Disaster payment is a lump sum payment to help workers unable to earn an income due to a COVID-19 lockdown, hotspot, or period of restricted movement.
This payment is also available to temporary visa holders who have permission to work.
To claim the payment you will need to contact Centrelink by phone to get a Customer Reference Number (CRN) before you can lodge the claim online. Visit the Services Australia Website for full details and further information
